The SAMR framework was proposed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura as a way to think about transforming teaching and learning with technology. Dr. Puentedura suggests that there are four areas or levels to consider: Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition.
SAMR challenges educators to design meaningful and engaging learning experiences for students that include opportunities to leverage the tools of the Digital Age to collaborate and create in ways that move beyond paper-and-pencil. G Suite for Education provides many of the tools that educators can use to create these opportunities.
I would like to invite international school educators to join me for “Get there with Google”, a six-week walk through of the SAMR model itself with a focus on transforming our current practices for teaching, learning, and professional engagement using G Suite services. In this free, online course participants will interact with their international school colleagues to examine and discuss the components of Puentedura’s SAMR model, explore new or existing features of G Suite for Education, and challenge themselves and each other to develop new activities and resources that reflect a Digital Age mindset.
“Get there with Google” is an asynchronous course and will take place entirely online. Participants will be issued an individual G Suite training account so that course activities do not interfere with their school-issued account.
When: Start date is Sunday, 1 March 2020. End date is Saturday, 11 April 2020.
Time: This six week course will involve 1 to 1.5 hours of time per week. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion for six hours of course work.
Cost: This course is free of cost. Participants will receive a free G Suite training account to use for the duration of the course.
